- Tips for getting the most out of a bridal show:
-Bring pre-printed labels or a rubber stamp with your name, address, email, phone number, and wedding date. This will save you time so you don't need to write this information every time you meet with a vendor or sign up for a raffle or prize.
-Bring someone with you. A family member, bridesmaid, friend, or your fiance can help you navigate through the vendor booths and grab information with you.
-Find the wedding magazines. Many vendors have current wedding magazines to give away. Grab as many as you can to take hom and look through for more ideas.
-Talk with the vendors... especially the ones you are most interested in. Vendors are a great source of information and ideas. And most vendors are looking to make a connection with potential brides. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the services they offer.
-Look for deals. Many vendors offer specials at bridal shows which can save you some money! Some require you to book with them the same day, so do some research ahead of time about the vendors.
-Have fun. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but try to have fun. Bridal shows are a great place to soak in the fact that you are a bride-to-be. Taste the sample, enjoy the fashion shows, and just have a great time!

- In Yoga, there are times when they tell you to breathe in, and then breathe out....out loud. I find myself doing this more and more often at home....just breathing out... in a loud sigh. It sure seems to add a relaxing element to my daily life. There is something about sighing out loud that just is so....healthy. I highly recommend that everyone try it!

- Sarah and Schuyler were married in late August at the World Peace Rose Garden at the Capitol in Sacramento. I've selected a few of my favorite album spreads to showcase. The invitations contained a picture of the Capitol and it seemed most fitting.
- The album spreads of the girls and and the guys were some of my favorites. Not only does the color pop of the page, but they were a super fun group of girls and guys.

- In September, Cory and I traveled to Oregon to attend and photograph Kayla and Scott's wedding along the Rogue River. We arrived the day before and attended rehearsal and were able to get the lay of the land.

- The house where the wedding took place was rented as part of a multiple house effort to raise money for the Women's Crisis Center. The rental fees were all donations. How can you go wrong with a view like this?
- Normally I'm a bit hesitant to take a dress outside...but I just couldn't resist using this old play structure. I wanted Kayla and Scott to get on top of it, but they were chicken. :-) Well that and we were told it wasn't stable.
- Back in the house, Kayla looked beautiful as she put on the final touches.
- I find that the first look by a bride in a mirror to see what she looks like is a fabulous moment to capture.
- The girls and guys were all looking smashing.
- The guys revealed their purple argyle socks....you know how much I love fun socks!
- Kayla and Scott's wedding colors were purple and green...a great way to show off the surrounding grounds.
- All the guests came in on Expedition Transportation. Check out the bears hanging off the trolley!
- Kayla and John (her dad) were all smiles as they approached the front.
- The flower girl was the cutest flower girl ever!
- With the natural flowers and greenery and trees, there wasn't a need for a lot of ceremony decor. It was perfect!
- After the ceremony we took Kayla and Scott around the grounds and picked out random spots for photos.
- We even ventured into the pastures with the horses.
- HellGate Jetboat Excursions were timely with their trips up and down the Rogue River. We made sure to give them a show.
- Kayla and her Maid of Honor. The idea behind the photo is that a great friendship doesn't end just because you get married. Your husband still has to share.
- Same goes with Scott and his Best Man. Who says you still can't share a hug amongst men?
- Kayla and her family are super DIY'ers. They made this table seating frame. I just LOVE it....I should have brought it home with me.
- A very unique cake topper. The cake reminded me of my wedding....with the topsy turvy layers.
- There was still some sunlight as Kayla and Scott started their first dance. It was a great evening and everyone had a blast. Even Cory and I made it into the photobooth a few times.

- Probably one of the most effective ways to lower the cost of your wedding is to limit the number of guests. This may sound difficult, and it can be, but this blog post will give you a few tips for trimming your guest list. You can read our other Budget Saving Tips for your wedding on the blog.
Deciding on a wedding guest list is one of the first tasks when planning a wedding. And while you would like to invite everyone you've ever known to share and celebrate your big day...this can get really expensive really fast! The cost per guest is not only a factor of food and liquor (however these are typically the biggest expense), but invitations, favors, and number of tables (and therefore centerpieces, menu cards, linens, and rental fees) all depend on the number of guests you invite as well. According to Cost Of Wedding, a single guest could add between $188 and $229 to the overall cost of your wedding. If you can take 10 guests off the list, you could save $2000!
So how do you pick and choose who to invite? Here are a few steps to help you trim your wedding guest list:
Consider venue. If you and your fiance have a specific venue in mind, ask about their guest capacity limits. Your venue restrictions may decide how long your guest list can be.
Keep things equal and fair. Is it important that your guests are split 50/50 (bride's side and groom's side), or do one of you have a larger family? However you decide to compromise on the guest list, keep an open dialogue with your fiance and your family to avoid drama and hurt feelings later on.
Cut by category. Categorize your guests into groups, such as immediate family, extended relatives, family friends, friends, coworkers, kids, etc. If you need to trim your list, try cutting out an entire category. For example, perhaps you decide that it will be an adult-only reception and remove the kids from your list. Or eliminate all coworkers. By eliminating an entire category, you can hopefully avoid hurt feelings about why one coworker was invited but others were not. An exception to this may be only inviting your boss or a coworker you see socially outside of the office.
Stick to those you have seen in the last few years and that you both know. Childhood friends and old acquaintances that you haven't seen or talked to in years can probably stay off of the guest list. If you only keep in contact on Facebook and haven't seen them since college, perhaps you don't invite them. You should also try to invite only people that you both know and have been a part of your lives since you've been a couple. This includes your parent's friends. If you have never spoken to or met someone your mom wants to invite, cute them off them list (or at least limit how many of these people your parents can invite). But remember to be open and honest with your parents about why you need/want to limit the guests at the wedding, whether that reason be venue restrictions, budget restrictions, or personal preferences).
Avoid the plus one. If you offer your single friends and family members an "and guest", those numbers can really add up. Instead, decide that only your bridal party and engaged guests can bring plus-ones. Or only include your friend's significant others but not casual dates. If your single friends have plenty of friends at the wedding, it's ok to have them come solo. To avoid confusion on your invitations, write the full names of the invited guests on the RSVP card. If you can't recall Joe's current girlfriend's name, do you really want her at your wedding anyway?
Invite who you want to invite. If there is someone you don't want at your wedding, don't feel like you need to invite them. Even if you were invited to their wedding last year or they are friends with most of the people who will be invited to your wedding. If you don't want them there, don't send them an invitation.
- My advice for tackling the guest list is this: Start with a wish list. Have both of you sit down with each of your parents and create a list of everyone you would like to invite if money and venue restrictions weren't an issue. Then ask yourselves these questions about each guest to start trimming your list:
Do they know you're engaged?
Have they ever met your fiance?
When was the last time you spoke to them?
How often do you see them?
Do they really need to be invited with a guest?
Will they be a part of your lives forever?
