  • I'm super stoked to report that my goal was to blog post at least once a day this year..on average anyway...and we've done it! That's two years now. And next year will be no different - full of sneak peaks, photo tips, and personal stories. I know we don't post only work related posts...on purpose. We want to post the quirky tidbits and the special moments in our personal lives. As readers, we hope you get a glimpse into our lives, personalities, and our style.

We've had a great team this year with the addition of former clients, Keith and Kirsten. And we've hired some great new office staff this year - Jasmine has been working with us at the Memory Journalists but more importantly with our sister company Dynamite Weddings. She is our word wizard guru. Of course our team wouldn't be complete without my steadfast team of Teresa and Kelly, my right hand (and left hand) girl Carie, and my hubby Cory.

We branched out a bit this year with some short films and plan to do some fun projects heading into 2011. We were stoked to win the Canon Cinema Caravan contest with our 30 second commercial. We've been blessed to be in many magazines and on the cover of Today's Bride in October and Sacramento Bride And Groom in January. Our most recent kudos was finding out we won the Best of Weddings 2011 by The Knot. What a great year!

The last few years we've done a year end review slideshow and this year is no different...and as usual it's super hard to pick pictures. Reflecting back year makes me really thankful that I meet such fabulous people. This year is no different. Every one of our clients has a special place in my heart. We connect on colors, on shoes, on food (yes, I'm a firm believer in eating!), on music, and mostly we connect about life. I hope what you see in our year end review is what defines our style. I tried very hard not to select detail shots, although we love them, because it's the people that matter most. You will see quiet moments with loving looks, you will see some sexy moments, but mostly you will see a lot, and I mean A LOT of laughter. You will even see my good friend Wendy shaving her head for St. Baldricks! And of course, you'll see some of my favorites photos of the year. Enjoy.

  • Kayla and Scott gave Cory the best and well thought out Christmas present - a single bottle of beer from a variety of Oregon Breweries. They literally drove all around Portland to pick out each bottle. When we picked up Kayla on our road trip through Oregon to Washington, we wondered what was in the really heavy box (wrapped at the time of course). It turned out to be Cory's gift. I can't wait to try them all!

  • My friends know me so well. 1) I'm always cold! and 2) I need access to my iPhone and now my wonderful iPad (gift from the hubby). So funny thing is that my friends Kerry, Carie and Cy all got me really cool and very different fingerless gloves for Christmas. I love each pair and can't wait to mix it up with my attire! I'll keep one pair at home, one pair at the office, and one pair in my purse for the car. Thank you girls!

  • WOOHOO! I'm so excited to announce that we are one of the many great winners of The Knot's Best of Weddings 2011. Not only are we honored by The Knot and stoked that they are a nationally recognized magazine and online resource, but we are even more honored that our wonderful brides and grooms took their time to review us and provide some heart touching testimonials. I will try to share with you some of these testimonials over the next few months, but here is one that really made me smile:

"So I met Jennifer at a bridal expo and we just talked for about 30 min. I had some questions for her but she didn't try to sell me anything she just answered my questions and then we chatted like we were just friends catching up on news. It was great! I really liked how we weren't treated like a client. There wasn't any pressure from the photographer and everyone was friendly and professional." -- Sharon

I'm so glad that our couples don't feel like clients, but rather our friends, even from our very first meeting!

  • The Pacific is a sister miniseries to the 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers. It focuses on the United States Marine Corps' actions in the Pacific. Whereas Band of Brothers followed one company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment through the European war, The Pacific centers on the experiences of three Marines (Eugene Sledge, Robert Leckie and John Basilone) who were all in different Regiments of the 1st Marine Division.

We own Band of Brothers and have watched in many times. The Pacific is just as intense and good. I like that it was based on books by the real men who you are following throughout the miniseries. The Pacific is based primarily on two memoirs of U.S. Marines: With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa by Eugene Sledge and Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie.

The box set included interview with the real men as a special feature. These interviews were just as touching as the movie itself.
