  • This weekend was a big weekend for The Memory Journalists team. Everyone worked at some point. On Friday, Cory, Teresa, and I drove to Wine and Roses in Lodi to celebrate the wedding of Melissa and Michael. Of course we started with all the gorgeous details. Chris, from the Big Bang, did an amazing job on the floral design.
Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 1Both the bride and groom looked amazing. Kathy Upton of Studio 3 and Jeff Jarwin of Article Salon did hair and make-up - and they do great work! It was like a mini little studio came to the girls for getting ready.Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 2I love it when the timing is just so right that we can capture images such as this one where the front of Melissa's dress is in the mirror.Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 3I have to say that several of these next images are Cory's fine work. He somehow manages to capture these great angles. Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 8Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 9Every little detail was well thought out. Including the nice touch of bringing out Arnold Palmers to the bridal party as we were finishing up some group photos. The stir sticks had the date and their initials. Catriona of Arcularius Events did such a great job on all the coordination and planning of their wedding.Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 10The biggest reason I love Melissa and Michael is their ability to laugh. I just love this image of the two of them trying to be serious as we are spending some time with just them alone after the ceremony.Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 11Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 12Their first dance was so beautiful. The lighting couldn't have been any better.Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 13I love that you can see all their guests behind them as they finished up watching their Love Story slideshow that Mike of Jensen Wedding Films created.Wine and Roses Weddings Photos 14The best is still yet to come...the bride and groom had many surprises in store for their guests. There was an outdoor lounge area that contained a huge candy bar. And hot Dogs from a ballpark style cart were served late into the night as a snack before guests departed. Hand rolled cigars were being made for guests in the lounge too. Our last image of this sneak peak is of Melissa giving a cigar a whirl...but she didn't like it!

    Sara of Bella Vita Invitations
    Susie of Classy Caligraphy
The Camelia String Quartet (music during the ceremony)
    Sound Trax (DJ)
    Village Cake bakery
    Celebrations Party Rentals
    STL (lighting and decor)
And Kevin Brown was the officiant

Melissa and Michael - Thank you for letting us share in your wedding day. I'm honored that you trusted us to document one of the biggest days of your lives. And both your personalities came through so beautifully in each image. We hope you're enjoying the sun! Check back in a few weeks for your larger sneak peak slideshow. Aloha!

  • I firmly believe that "life is what you make it". If you want to be happy...you'll be happy. If you want to succeed, you will succeed. If you want to be healthy, you will be healthy. I'm not trying to get too philosophical, but I've had some reality checks recently on a personal level that reminded me how much we control our outlook on life. I think you are the only one who can make yourself happy. Life is what you make it. So enjoy it!

I encourage you all to comment.

  • I haven't had a chance to write about last Saturday during my vacation in Arizona. My dad and I went up to the small town of Jerome - an old copper mining town and I want to share photos. A once grand mansion (turned museum) is the place to go to learn about this small town. From way atop, we were able to catch this view of the valley. It was amazing to see that we climbed several thousand feet in a matter of a few minutes to get to this little town.
Arizona Vacation Photographer 1My dad smokes a pipe. Always has...as far as I know. And I love the smell of his pipe. Sometimes I can be walking around downtown Sac and I catch a whiff of pipe tobacco...and it makes me think of my dad. As we were driving around I caught him mid puff - he tried to put his pipe down every time I tried to catch this shot...but I told him I wanted a picture of him smoking. I know it may seem silly, but it fits my memories of growing up and I wanted this image to last forever.

This is my dad!Arizona Vacation Photographer 2

  • Since I have to work on Cory's Bday this weekend...I surprised him tonight with some yummy treats. Don't you just love the Silly Feet cupcake holders? :-) I'm a bit sad that I won't get to be with him on his bday, but I think it's a girl thing...as I'm sure he's content to sit and watch tv, eat his cupcakes, and take naps all day. I love you honey! Happy Birthday!!Sacramento Birthday Photos
